Tomato Goat Cheese Puff Pastry
1 square frozen puff pastry, thawed
1/2 cup Muir Glen® tomato sauce
1 medium fennel bulb, sliced thin
4 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
fennel leaves as garnish (save from the bulb)
A simple appetizer using puff pastry that features goat cheese and sliced fennel.
Preparation & Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Thaw puff pastry square according to package.
Lay out puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spread with a layer of tomato sauce. Leave about 1/2 inch of room around the outside so the pastry will puff more around the edges.
Slice off stems and root from fennel bulb. Slice bulb in half and then slice into thin slivers. Reserve the delicate stems of the fennel bulb for garnishing the pastry.
Arrange the fennel slices evenly over the pastry.
Dot entire pastry with goat cheese.
Bake pastry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
Remove pastry and garnish with fennel stems (just the very tiny ones). Slice and serve.
