1 tablespoon olive oil
1/3 cup small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 can (28 oz) Muir Glen® organic crushed tomatoes with basil
1/2 cup vodka
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon coarse salt (kosher or sea salt)
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup whipping cream
A touch of cream tames the vodka burn in this delicious tomato sauce.
Preparation & Directions
In 10-inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook onion and garlic in oil 3 to 4 minutes, stirring constantly, until crisp-tender.
Stir in tomatoes, vodka, sugar, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in cream. Heat just until hot.
Serve over cooked pasta as desired.
